Hi everybody! I hope you all had a great weekend. We took advantage of a couple days off to give the house an organizing and cleaning overhaul from top to bottom. Since lots of our Ikea loot found permanent homes over the weekend, I thought it was time I shared the updates!
If you’ll remember the last couple times I showed you our living room, we were getting ready for cooler temps. We started with purple drapes.

And shortly thereafter switched them out for these gold-y green ones.

One set of panels on each side of the fireplace has never been quite enough fabric for privacy at night, so a couple curtain panels were definitely on my list for our trip to Ikea.
Little did I know I would stumble upon the perfect curtains which would inspire a living room makeover just in time for spring! Are you ready to see the result? Here it is!
I fell in love with these leafy drapes when I saw them in person last weekend. I’ve always been a big fan of boldly patterned curtains, and the colors in these babies were the perfect addition to our living room.
We took the opportunity to switch up some furniture and accessories as well. I don’t think you’ve seen this view of our living room lately, but there’s our new TV – a replacement for this bad boy (wow, our living room sure has changed in the past year, huh?)!
This is another view you might not be used to seeing. Our little loveseat has found itself all over this living room in the past couple years, but it always seems to end up on this wall across from the two chairs.
With all the pattern going on between the curtains and chairs, the peacock and Home Sweet Home pillows were replaced with the neutral ones from our sofa.
Our little white birdie and revamped end table got to stay though!
You might remember these colorful glass vases from our spring mantel from last year. I liked the wreath I made a few months ago so much that I decided to leave it and add the vases in little groupings beneath it.
Here’s where our two lumbar pillows ended up. They make me smile every time I see them.
I’m actually surprised our cat Tina isn’t in this photo. This is one of her favorite spots in the house to get some sun and a view of our backyard.
These mirrors hang on the short wall just off our entryway and give an interesting view of our gallery wall.
So there you have it! Our living room overhaul, inspired by our fun new curtains. Looks like we’re welcoming spring with open arms at Heardmont!
Did the beautiful weather put you in spring cleaning mode this weekend too?
(Side note: You probably thought you were going to see our finished master bath today, didn’t you? Sorry to disappoint, but it might be a couple more days. Sometimes you just need to take a renovation break to stop and smell the roses – or the daffodils, in our case! I hope you understand – and thanks for reading!)

The living room looks great Meredith! I love the colors, love the curtains and love all of the pillows. VERY nice!
I did a post today showing some of my scales. Come by when you get a chance.
Have a great day.
Pam
Nice! I really like the curtains.
I’ve always loved the pattern on those curtains, bold but not too crazy. They look wonderful in your living room. I love it when a new purchase (with a teeny price tag to boot) can make such an impact!
Love the makeover, it looks GREAT! What a huge living room, jealous!
I love the glass bottle collection on the mantle. Those leafy drapes are some of my faves. I’d like to get the green and red version but Dave isn’t sold on them.
The architecture in your place is GREAT! That’s the style that we were originally looking for before we settled on our new house.
I am loving your pattern mix! Those drapes look so great.
WOw it is amazing how curtains change the look and feel of a room. these Curtains are, like you say, perfect. And the room is beautiful.. LOVE it!!
I love the double layer of curtains they look fantastic. Spring is definately in the air … I’v just started collecting green glass jars too they make such a gorgeous display
Great look with the new curtains! Looks very “finished”. You’re right you really did need some more fabric on those windows, but I never noticed it before. Good eye!
Looks awesome!! I especially love the curtains, they make such a statement and seem to bring the entire room together. I, too, am sooo ready for Spring… and we have absolutely gorgeous weather here in NC this week!! Now if I could just get rid of these allergies….
We have the same curtains. I love them too! They add so much brightness to the room with out overpowering the room.
Super cute, I love me some ikea! Do you have a picture showing the layout of all your furniture? I’m having a hard time visualizing it and am looking for ideas for my new (also large) livingroom.
LOVE! And such a great idea to layer the curtains. And that wide angle shot of your living room is gorgeous! I didn’t get a chance to do anything fun this weekend (working, ugh), but I’m hoping to get to play a bit this week!
I LOVE those curtains! I have seen them at Ikea and liked them. They make your room look so finished. Great job!
Oooo I love it! It looks so bright and pretty! I love, love, love the curtains. I just did a little redo with my living room too. Are you like me and keep stopping in your tracks just to stare around the room and sigh in contentment??
Dude. We have the same painting. (I am embarrassed to share this… It was early in the blogging… http://candyskitchen.blogspot.com/2009/04/rec-wreck-room.html)
LOVE those vases!
Beautiful, peaceful and so perfect for spring. I love your new drapes and accessories! Great job, Meredith!
Ok, I have been blog-stalking you this evening! I am in love!! I am your newest follower

Your living room reminds me of the living room I had when I was growing up. We lived in a post modern 1950′s house with floor to ceiling windows and wood grain beams. The roof line was like yours too but the wall where you have the fireplace was all windows (a pain to cleaning). I love it! You said you are 6 hours from Alaska, is there a city called Alaska in Arkansas? Katharine
